Families at St Agnes

Why have a page about families?
Parents, Grandparents and other carers are very important people, because it is they who help their children grow in faith. When we are young, it is the love of our parents which helps us to picture what God is like. At home we learn about loving, sharing and caring, forgiving and being forgiven. Giving your children stability and quality time tells them that they are people who are valued, and so they grow to understand that they also matter to God. At St Agnes, we recognise the importance of families.

How do families fit in at St Agnes?
Once a month on Sunday morning ( 10.00am on the 3rd Sunday in the month ) we hold a short, family-friendly service for all ages.  We try to include things to see and do, with colour and activity.  There will be plenty for you and your children to join in with together, especially if you sit near the front.

On other Sundays, school age children have their own group called "Young Disciples", and enjoy games, Bible stories and other activities. Everyone starts in the church building together, and meets up again towards the end of the service.

What about babies, and toddlers too young for "Young Disciples"?
We have flexible arrangements for very young children.  First, sleeping or quietly playing children are welcome to stay with parents in the pews. St Agnes Rest Area and Children's Books  If there's not enough room, there is a carpeted area with soft chairs, low tables, children's books etc where parents may stay with their children and still be in the service.  Finally, if the children need to play more actively, or want to make lots of noise, there is a creche-room with a selection of toys, and a sound relay through which you can hear the service without disturbing others.

What if Sunday morning is not a good time for coming to church?
Cafe Church Logo We know this is the case for many families, and have started a "Cafe Church" called Taste'n'See, which takes place at 4.00pm on Saturdays, once a month.  There's food, stories and lots of activities for parents/carers and their children to enjoy together.  For confirmation of dates, watch the noticeboard outside, and local publicity, or click here.
